This Montessori Blue Series material provides a compact matching activity for children ready to read beyond the simple three-letter words of the Pink Series. The set includes 9 laminated Blue Picture Sheets, each featuring six familiar pictures, and 54 matching laminated word cards.
The child reads a word card, finds the matching picture on a sheet, and places the label with it. By working from a group of six pictures, the child learns to scan, compare, and discriminate visually while decoding each word.
The words extend beyond the Pink Series pattern and introduce longer familiar words with consonant blends and common spelling patterns. The material provides a more abstract step from concrete objects and individual picture cards toward independent reading.
Children may match the word cards to the picture sheets, build the words with the Movable Alphabet, sort words by reading pattern, and repeat the activity independently.
The set supports decoding of longer words, vocabulary development, visual discrimination, concentration, and confidence with early reading. It prepares the child for later phonogram work, reading cards, and early readers.
