This complete Montessori Blue Series set includes 10 blue wooden boxes with lids, each containing six laminated picture cards and six matching word cards.
The material supports the child’s transition from concrete Blue Series objects to the more abstract work of matching pictures and written words. After working with real objects, the child continues with familiar pictures and matching word cards, gradually moving toward independent reading from cards.
The word cards extend beyond the simple three-letter words of the Pink Series. The sequence introduces longer, familiar words with consonant blends, common spelling patterns including ck, ll, and ss, and longer two-syllable words.
Children may match each picture card with its word card, build the words with the Movable Alphabet, sort words by reading pattern, and gradually read the word cards independently. The boxes keep the material organized and allow the teacher to present only a small selection at a time.
The set supports early reading, writing, vocabulary development, and confidence with decoding longer words. It prepares the child for later phonogram work, reading cards, and early readers.
